The Bad Neighbor

I have a bad neighbor. His name is Max E. Coe and the problems with him are worsening. He used to sneak into my house at night but now he just wants to live in my house and have me pay for his stay. I’ve contacted the authorities but they don’t seem to care. But I’m ahead of myself.

Let me start from the beginning. Like I said, Max E. Coe used to cross into my property uninvited. Occasionally, I would spot his shadowy figure but he quickly ran away. I called the authorities and they said “no harm, no foul” and the problem would go away if you ignored it.

So, I ignored it. Now, Max wants to live permanently in my house. Furthermore, he wants me to start paying for his health, education, and retirement expenses. Max doesn’t want to leave! I have called the authorities and they said it is a political issue. So, I called the politicians and I was told I needed to be more “inclusive,” “understanding,” and “tolerant.” People like Max, they said, were “hard working” individuals. But, I yelled back, “HE’S IN MY HOUSE!” They didn’t seem to care.

Lately, Max has been bringing more and more of his friends to stay at my house. But it is worse. Max and his friends are now protesting on my property demanding they be allowed to live with me permanently at my expense. I asked the authorities and politicians if they could please build a fence to stop Max and his friends. They just shrugged their shoulders and said they were working on some “new laws.” I asked about the “new laws” with hope, but soon found out they were laws that enabled Max and his friends to stay in my house … forever … at my expense. Why don’t they care?

I think Max E. Coe is a bad neighbor, period! But I also think the authorities and politicians are just as bad. Now I know–they really don’t care.
