Jesus is Not Welcome at Digg.com

Cross-digg banJesus is not welcome at Digg.com. Any mention of Jesus, God, Son of God, Lord, Savior, or anything related to Jesus is crucified and buried on Digg.

Stories about marijuana, atheism, 911 conspiracies, and hate Bush are welcome additions to the upcoming or front page stories. But if a story about Jesus is posted on Digg it is met with immediate scorn or, more likely, buried as “inaccurate.” Consider some of the more foul-mouthed comments about Jesus on Digg:

I want to f*** Jesus in his A**hole… Then make that bitch suck my c**k! –CrackHeadBob

F*** JESUS GOD IS A C*NT ALLAH SUCKS A FAT C**K! — AssHate

I could go on with a myriad of similar comments but you get the message. Eighty-three percent of Americans identify themselves as Christians but you won’t find any representative articles for Christians on Digg.

Digg claims the following (my underlines):

Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web…Because Digg is all about sharing and discovery, there’s a conversation that happens around the content. We’re here to promote that conversation and provide tools for our community to discuss the topics that they’re passionate about.

Of course, that sharing and discovery doesn’t apply to Jesus because Jesus is not welcome at Digg.com.

Notice there isn’t even an appropriate category for stories about Jesus, Christianity or anything religious. That ought to clue anyone into the fact that Digg isn’t exactly encouraging those types of submissions.

StumbleUpon-It, on the other hand, has a plethora of categories. Virtually any topic you wish to write about will have an appropriate category.

It may take a while but I think Digg is ultimately destined to follow MySpace down as others do the same job far better. So long as Digg puts their politics ahead of their business model, they will see more and more people leave for better choices. Isn’t free enterprise wonderful?

I already have left. And I encourage every Christian to do the same. Join someplace like GospelShout. It is kind of down right now, but I am reliably posting there, and if more people do, it will be more interesting. We need something like GospelShout.

This comment section is for the readers of Ft. Hard Knox, a place for political conservatives to share information about online activism. We are not "fair and balanced," and we aren't refereeing a "free speech zone." Intelligent, funny, and on-topic comments are welcome. Trolls, spam, and liberal propaganda are not. We may occassionally approve a comment with an obvious lefty-slant so that we can amuse ourselves by making fun of it, but most will be deleted. (Why? Because we're busy, we have lives, and when we want to talk to you we'll go visit you on Digg or the Daily KOS.)

This is a private blog, and we reserve the right to make up our own rules as we go along. The few comments which manage to squeak by our censors reflect the opinion of the commentator, and not necessarily the staff of Ft. Hard Knox.
