Why Do Liberals Like to Talk About Impeachment?

IMG_1483 They are like Pavlov’s dogs…say the word “impeachment” to a liberal and they salivate.  They love that word–impeach Cheney, impeach Bush, impeach everybody.  Here’s the problem–it isn’t grounded in reality.

The reality is only two presidents have been impeached (Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton) but neither was removed from office.  Never has a vice-president been impeached.

Reality check for liberals–impeachment is not going to happen despite your wet dream fantasy.

But the question on the table is “Why do liberals like to talk about impeachment?”  The obvious answer is unbridled hatred.  In their acrimonious hearts they have become blinded to sensibility.  Consider Digg.com’s front page.  Post an article on impeachment and the liberals run to it like rabid hyenas looking to lick the pretend blood of Bush or Cheney.  They can’t get enough impeachment articles to the front page to feed the fomenting liberal hordes.  The words that spews from their mouth about Bush, Cheney, or pick your administration leader is nothing short of steaming fecal matter.

I used to feel upset followed by bewilderment when I read their posts but now I rejoice!  They have gone so far over the edge of reality, it will be easy to contrast them to the sensibilities and thoughtful intellect of conservatives.  So liberal impeachment haters, I leave you with a final quote:

Hatred is something peculiar. You will always find it strongest and most violent where there is the lowest degree of culture.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

You seem to have 2 arguments: The first is that Americans want to impeach our leaders because we hate them. I think this is not a strong argument. While we do tend to hate those who exhibit illegal behavior, it is the behavior that makes them impeachable. The hatred is a natural side effect of the actions. It’s like hating a criminal for breaking into your house. You hate him, but you want his arrested because of the break in, not because of the hatred. If you do not believe this administration has overstepped the boundaries of acceptable behavior, you are entitled to that belief. But my belief is most certainly grounded in reality. And there are plenty of scholars and generals and political leaders and even fellow Republicans who agree. In fact, a majority of Americans want impeachment. And indeed, Articles of impeachment have been drawn up, and are currently supported by 15 members of congress, including 3 on the judiciary committee. House Resolution 333 now awaits scedule in the subcomittee. As the weeks roll on, you will see more subpoenas and hear more about contempt and censure and impeachment. They are tool that legislative branch uses when the executive branch oversteps their power. I understand it is difficult when a person or group you identify with does bad things. You deny it, you make excuses, you try every last argument in the book. But at the end of the day, you can’t run from the truth. And the truth is that this administration has made far too many mistakes and broken far too many laws to be considered just plain unlucky. I urge you to do some more reading and investigating, and make up your own mind based on where the facts take you, not based on some pre-conceived notions of what party you identify with. I, for one, am a Republican, but I am saddened and frustrated by this administration, and feel betrayed. I think impeachment would be good for the party, as it was with Nixon. But more importantly, I think it would be good for the country. I hate to think of what some Democrat in the white house will do if congress no longer checks their power. Thanks for reading this. – steve

    Steve, Nixon wasn’t impeached.

It wasn’t good for the country when Clinton was impeached (and served out the rest of his term), and it wouldn’t be good for the current President or Vice President to be impeached in the middle of a war – it would simply empower our enemies.

Exactly what illegal behavior are you talking about?

“And the truth is that this administration has made far too many mistakes and broken far too many laws…”

Name one law broken. Just one. Give me just one lie. The only mistake that has been made was not going after the bad guys in Iraq with full force – overwhelming firepower and manpower.

There will be no impeachment. The Democrat party is using the threat of impeachment to motivate it’s moonbat wing to go to the polls in 08. It’s all politics.

Liberalism has become a clique. Sure Bush isn’t the best but most of his mistakes stem from liberal ideas.
