The Liberal Paradox

Liberals are faced with a paradox. The New York Times headline read as follows: “Bush Signs Law Widening Reach for Wiretapping.” Here is the paradox. In order for Bush to sign the expanded wiretapping, it had to be passed by a Democratic congress.
So, what is a liberal to do? If they blame Bush for expanding wiretapping they are also pointing a finger at their elected Democrats. If they blame the Democrats, they attack their only chance for a liberal / progressive change.
They are stuck.
What typically occurs is silence. The left just sits, probably fuming, but having no choice but to bend over and take it. Their illusions of surrendering to al Qaida in Iraq are stalled, their socialist reforms are non-existent, their hope for liberal change have become a joke. Yes, far left liberals are stuck in a 20/20 paradox where either option is lose-lose.
