Has Atheism Jumped the Shark?

A search on Google News for atheist or atheism shows meager returns compared to 3-6 months ago. This suggests that atheists have had their 15 minutes of fame. They have now jumped the shark.
For atheists, they had their pinnacle of popularity with Richard Dawkins’ book. But now, it appears, their time has come and gone. They are the atheists of days gone by–once attained and now disdained.
Sure, they may get another blip in the public relations ratings but I think they are on the downward slope of popularity (or should I say a-popularity). There is nothing to indicate atheism will return to its fashionable days.
