What is Hollywood’s Goal, Here?

For a long time now I have been a movie fan. I can recite Star Wars lines as if I wrote them myself. I have spent a small fortune building myself a home theater. But while I am nowhere near a prude, I am horrified by what is coming out of Hollywood these days.

I am not talking about the slasher flicks; those have been around for a long time, and it’s just the effects that have gotten more graphic and bloody. I am not talking about language or sex; The Sopranos was a masterpiece of modern television. No, I am talking about shameless, sick perversion.

Recently at the Toronto Film Festival, Alan Ball, the man behind Six Feet Under and American Beauty unleashed a film called Nothing is Private. It is the story of a 13-year old girl who is molested by many people in her life, both sexually and physically. And part of what sickens me is that one of the abusers is portrayed by Aaron Eckhart.

Warner Independent Pictures, a division of Time Warner, picked up the movie to distribute. Yes, the company that distributes Looney Toons has decided that you would be willing to spend money to go see the rape of a little girl.

aaroneckhart.jpgMr. Eckhart has been in several films that I have purchased, I liked them so well. Well, those days are over. I will never again spend one red cent to further the income of someone who would play such a roll. I am no fan of Mr. Ball, so he’s not losing out on anything.

To be fair, I have NOT seen this movie. But its very premise means I will not. Some who have, it seems, had the good sense to walk out. And yet Time Warner still purchased it. What’s next though? I confess I cannot imagine how much lower they can go.

Oh wait, yes I can. Did I mention that the girl in question is of Middle Eastern descent, and this takes place during the period of the first Gulf War? This is a blatant attempt to play to the left’s Anti-Americanism. The depiction of a white male raping a Middle Eastern girl is no coincidence.

Am I calling for some sort of intervention by the Government to block such a film? No. I don’t believe in censorship.

But I DO believe people should:
