hands-typing-on-laptopSome people are addicted to blogging.  They love it, live it, and breath it.  It is part of their personality and lifestyle.  Walking away from their blog would be difficult.  Could it be that you are a blogaholic?

Blogaholics will dedicate more time to blogging then they will other activities like watching TV, going out, reading books, exercising, and the like.  A blogaholic will be obsessed with their statistics which they will check regularly.  If the numbers go down, it could trigger deep concerns and then cause them to double their efforts towards their blog.

Blogaholics learn the language of blogging like blogrolling, blogosphere, netspam, WYSIWYG, RSS Feed, and other terms non-blogging internet neophytes would just look puzzled about.  They know which blogging software works best and could list off dozens of their favorite blogs without a pause.  Moreover, they can tell you the difference between WordPress, Blogger, LiveJournal, and other blog hosting services.  They know their Technorati ranking.

If you are a blogaholic, you are not alone.  Gartner, an internet research firm, suggests there are currently 100 million bloggers and 200 million former  bloggers worldwide.  Some blog frequently, others periodically, and many have long given up blogging.  Within that number, however, are blogaholics–those addicted to their blogging.  As with other social addictions (gambling, alcohol, etc.), that number tends to be approximately 5 percent of the population.  That would mean about 5 million of you are serious blogaholics.

Here is a little quiz to see if you are a blogaholic:  Are you a blogaholic?   Or here is a light little piece called ” 50 Signs You’re a Blogaholic.”
