Aid and Comfort at Columbia U.

» by Jenn Sierra in: Uncategorized

Treason:

bollinger.jpgUS Constitution Article 3, Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court. The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.

According to West’s Encyclopedia of American Law:

Treason is punishable by death. If a death sentence is not imposed, defendants face a minimum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine (18 U.S.C.A. § 2381). A person who is convicted of treason may not hold federal office at any time thereafter.

Aiding an enemy takes various forms. One might sell secret information to the enemy, as Benedict Arnold did, attack a federal arsenal, like John Brown, harboring an enemy like Hans Max Haupt, or promoting the enemy’s propganda, like Adam Gadahn.

chavez_iran.jpgNow, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (aka “I’m-a-nut-job”), the “president” of Iran, wants to take advantage of his visit to the United Nations, currently housed in New York City, to lay a wreath at ground zero, and accept an invitation by Columbia University to speak there and answer questions. Law enforcement, private citizens and political candidates from the right and left spoke out vehemently against the Ground Zero visit, and that, apparently, is not going to happen. (For more info, see Thug-In-Chief still planning to speak at Columbia, says he’ll steer clear of Ground Zero by Robert Spencer, of Jihad Watch.)

Rudy Giuliani (R):

Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero. This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring bin Laden’s son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero - hallowed ground for all Americans - is outrageous.

Hillary Clinton (D):

It is unacceptable for Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who refuses to renounce and end his own country’s support of terrorism, to visit the site of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation’s history.

But Lee Bollinger, the president of Columbia University, has insisted that the visit and scheduled speech is in line with:

Columbia’s long-standing tradition of serving as a major forum for robust debate, especially on global issues.

FHK’s TXPoet gave us an overview of just exactly how dangerous I’m-a-Nut-Job’s regime really is here and here.

khatami-and-ahmadinejad.jpgThe public pressure is increasing on Columbia University may yet officially withdraw the invitation, but WHY would this enemy of the U.S. be welcome, as New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn put it, “…be given center stage at one of New York’s most prestigious centers of high education”? This is, as FHK’s Orlando, reminded us yesterday, however, the same university, that “allowed its students to verbally assault Jim Gillcrest of the Minuteman Project.”

I agree with Orlando, who wrote:

Shame on Columbia University. You hide behind free speech and scholarship but never stand up for basic human rights and principles.

I wonder if Columbia University will be as open to the free speech rights of its students as it is to America’s enemies, during the National Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week that will take place on its campus, and at least 151 other campuses throughout the nation during October? (See also here.)

mahmoud_ahmadinejad_hostages1b.jpgWe’ll see. Meanwhile, Bollinger and his fellow “citizen[s] of the world,” enjoy basking in the presence of a man who wants to blow them up along with the rest of us. A man who said on MEMRI TV (Iran Ch.1, Esfahan TV (Iran) - 5/24/2007 - 00:06:42, linked here because the original record has been removed):

America Is Like a Battery Running Out. They Are Done For…With the grace of God, we have almost reached the end of the path where we can take complete advantage of all nuclear capabilities. We are very near the summit. The resistance of the enemies grows weaker every day.

UPDATE: Apparently this is Standard M.O. at Columbia. AllahPundit has more at HotAir.

An Interview With Kathleen Parker, Author Of "Save The Males"

John: Now, the average left-wing feminist response to your book is probably akin to, "Ah, men have the advantage in every way. Why would anyone need to 'save the males?'" What would you say to that? Kathleen: You're exactly right. I get a lot of that and what they point out generally is that men head most of the corporations and men dominate in the Congress. While that is statistically true, what I try to do in Save the Males is show where our current trends are leading...(Right Wing News)
