Democratic Health Care Would Hurt 6 in 10 Kids

Democrats love big government program to “help the poor” or “help the children.” Their “do good” mentality is emotionally based but rarely thought out. In fact, if the proposed health care program Congress is currently debating passes, 60 percent of children would lose their health care.
The Heritage Foundation conducted an econometric analysis of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to see the effect it would have on children. Here’s what they found out:
This analysis was based on a modified and extended version of the methodology developed by MIT professor Jonathan Gruber, a leading expert on the crowd-out effect. This analysis found that Congress’s expansion proposals for SCHIP could cover as many as 2.4 million newly eligible children, but because of crowd out, the ranks of the uninsured would decrease by only 1 million. This is because, for every 100 newly eligible children in families with incomes between 200 and 400 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL), 54 to 60 children would lose the private coverage that they have today.
That’s 60 percent or 6 out of 10 children who would lose, not gain, their health care coverage. Those numbers are supported by the Congressional Budget Office which showed that up to 50 percent of children would lose their health care under the Democratic plan.
Trying to make a Democrat understand the errors of their ways falls on deaf ears because they are doing it for “the children.” As long as they are doing it for “the children” it does not matter the astronomical costs involved to run these vast government programs. Nor does it matter that they hurt the very ones they are trying to help because Democrats are doing it for “the children.”
You see, good intentions are all that matters to Democrats. The return on investment, the costs, the overall effect are details Democrats can’t be bothered with. Big government programs, to Democrats, is the answer to every social ill even if it ends up hurting 6 out of 10 children they intended to help. It’s just plain stupid!
