Mel Martinez, General Chairman of the Republican Party, has released a video statement regarding the confirmation of Judge Michael Mukasey. Republicans confirmed Janet Reno in just 13 days, yet by the time Congress reconvenes after Columbus Day it will have already been a month since President Bush nominated Judge Michael Mukasey to the highest law enforcement position in the nation. This is not a political question as many Democrats are asserting - but rather a national security risk. This is an uncertain time in our nation’s history with the constant threat of terror attacks and we need a qualified individual to lead the domestic front against the War on Terror and uphold the constitution. The Democrats are faced with a decision: filling an important national security position, or keeping George Soros, MoveOn, and the likes happy? Don’t let the Democrats’ partisanship threaten our safety.
