Here’s a novel idea in Web 2.0. BookMooch, a social networking site for bookworms helps users trade books and make friends at the same time.

According to Mashable, “BookMooch, the network for exchanging used books, has released a few updates. There is now a secret admirer feature, which lets you send smooches to cuties you’re crushing….There are widgets to show what books you have available to give, those you’ve received, those that are on your wish list, etc. Then there are options for each of these categories.” Also, “The service is essentially a cross between eBay and a social network - you can browse books and members and build a network of friends. You also need to create two lists - an inventory of the books you’re willing to trade, and a wishlist of the books you want.

They have a blog, wiki, and SecondLife space, as well as a discusion forum to discuss your favorite books and book collections. Very cool idea.
