The Oklahoma 3

I had the priviledge of hearing Rick Arnold, of National Voter Outreach, and Paul Jacob, of the Sam Adams Alliance, speak on Thursday at the Conservative Leadership Conference in Reno, NV. The focus of their talk was on th Criminalization of Citizen Activism.

For those not familiar with the plight of the Oklahoma 3, they have been arrested in Oklahoma on charges of petition fraud. Because of the ongoing investigation and trial, they were not able to share their entire story at the convention, but Paul Jacob did share that he felt the charges were unwarranted, and that they had been filed specifically to intimidate citizen activists. For more on this story, see here, and here.

Rick Arnold encouraged everyone to check out Free To Speak! This is a site, “to exposing the reality behind the political forces that keep citizens in the dark to stop us from voting on issues that are important to all Americans.”

Arnold stated that what the conservative online community needs very badly at this time is, “a counter to BISC,” (Ballot Initiative Stategy Center) which he explained is a liberal, progressive activist group committed to helping citizen activists file local initiatives all over the country.
