Al Gore’s Less-Than-Zero-Sum Climate Game

That ‘global warming’ alarmist Al Gore and the United Nations are sharing the Nobel Peace Prize is no big surprise. It was about as uncertain as a presidential election in Venezuela. The consequences, however, could be grave for us all if we wander into Gore’s end-of-the-world trap. And with this award, it appears wound up and ready to spring.
We need not rehash all the blatant falsity of Gore’s climate thesis. It clearly is anti-science, anti-common-sense and purely political in nature because, for one thing, it is established fact that our latest 20-year ‘planetary heating emergency’ is nothing more than a 5% replay of the Medieval years, when a much hotter climate extended over four whole centuries, but with no Nobel Al to fret over it.
This climate straw man is intended to misdirect us from our happiness, prosperity and freedom and to focus us on a non-existent crisis so that we foolishly end up panicked and signing away our freedom, our wealth and our property rights to an insatiable leftist/socialist juggernaut.
By declaring an ‘emergency’ — sounding alarmingly like the ‘state of emergency’ declared before a banana republic’s coup — and proposing ultimately to control all energy use, you control all the people. Energy is at the heart of human progress, and therefore those who decide who gets what energy, and how energy is extracted, distributed and used hold the key to global hegemony. This is exactly what this ‘emergency’ is about; certain people and their ongoing and incurable thirst for power and money who have found a novel way to get it without guns, banners and revolutionary mobs in the streets. It is soft as a daisy, and clean as the spring breeze.
The ‘climate change’ agenda ultimately centers around what are called ‘emissions caps’ under which extremists like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who literally called ‘global warming’ skeptics “traitorsâ€Â(!) — will scrutinize an industry or a factory or a nation and, after much chin-scratching, will decide that that entity has put enough of the dreaded carbon dioxide into air, and therefore must be reigned in. Never mind that CO2 is as natural as water and is emitted by the billions of tons by the decaying forests that environmentalists love to protect.
What this really amounts to is a shakedown of the moneyed and industrialized world by unproductive political types who will use highly invasive big-brother tactics to determine precisely what private company is being eco-naughty and which is being nice.
And this whole setup naturally will turn into a political and economic quagmire lorded over by loathsome bureaucrats, tree huggers, bow-tie academics and the odious UN, with the wealth of the industrialized world up for grabs. The greenies already are setting up an arcane and labyrynthine shell game under which they arbitrarily will set the ‘caps’ and then will deign to allow you to trade your ‘pollution credits’ (the amount between the cap and your use) to other companies, or to be sold on open-market exchanges.
What will be most frightening is to see exactly who operates these brokerages, because that is the key to this whole fiasco, my friends. Follow the cash.
It has come out in the press that Al Gore himself is worth almost $100 million. For a guy who seven years ago was a schmucko Vice President ridiculed for claiming he invented the internet, this newfound wealth may seem practically impossible to fathom. But it is crucial to understand that he has availed himself of what might be called socialist free-enterprise, by saying things leftists love to hear then passing the hat.
And the only way to keep this money machine greased is by getting more money. So the market mavens, ledgersheet-men and bean-counters on the political left — and don’t ever believe that there are none, because they dominate much of our urban, paper-shuffling economies — will be collecting points on every ‘emission caps’ transaction. And there is a vast ocean of money to be made, and Gore & Friends will make it, with a 10% tithe going to environmental organizations, universities and everyone else with political power who tumbled into the ‘warming’ abyss and came up converted. This will represent a massive shift in wealth from productive entities to non-productive ones. Viva socialismo!
You can define a socialist as someone who can smell a dollar bill ten miles away. What we are going to see if the ‘warming’ drama takes root is a new breed of robber baron who will take increasing cuts of every ‘green’ transaction. In Laureate Gore’s potemkin zero-sum game, one company pollutes a little more, another a little less, and it all sounds hunky dory. But it will be nothing of the sort. The world’s economy, and its people, will be left short-changed by these wealth-dissipating shenanigans, and the climate con will find millions of us worldwide with much, much less than zero.
