We talk a lot about Facebook at FHK, and are big fans. We even have an FHK Facebook Group. Facebook is more than a social networking site, it claims to be a “social utility,” because it not only lets members network with one another, but it gives members a place to consolidate so much of their networking activity.
Facebook was originally open to only college students, but is now open to everyone. It interfaces with social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, and stumbleupon and lets members form friends networks, and special-interest groups, as well as share links, videos, and photos from their own collections or elsewhere on the web.
Patrick Ruffini gives us one more reason to take a serious look at Facebook, as he explains the Early-Adopter Effect, and demonstrates that Facebook stats show that conservatives may be catching up to liberals in the online social networking scene. This is exactly what FHK is all about – helping conservatives become more effective in the Web 2.0 environment.
At FHK, we’re currently discussing the pro’s and con’s of maintaining a discussion forum vs. consolidating our time, energy and resources to an online networking site like Facebook. We’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter. If you are a regular FHK member (or reader), please respond by clicking on the FHK Forum link below.
P.S.: (from Jenn) I discovered Patrick Ruffini’s article, and got the inspiration for this piece on…guess where? Facebook!
