All I want for Christmas…

Is my two front teeth. Ok, I’ll spare you the singing and tell you what I really want for Christmas: the Democrat-led Congress to get in gear and pass the necessary FISA legislation to keep America safe. The previous legislation approved by Congress, the PAA, is set to expire in February; if our intelligence community is to continue to foil terror plots then they must have the proper tools. Congress’ inaction in passing the FISA legislation would limit the intelligence community to outdated and ineffective techniques in protecting the homeland. Our intelligence professionals need these tools and Congress needs to ensure our safety. More below the fold.

Congress has created a bipartisan bill that is a step in the right direction, but there are still a few points of contention: the bill must maintain strong oversight provisions to protect the rights of Americans in the United States; requiring intelligence officials to apply for court orders before collecting foreign intelligence from overseas targets would make our nation less safe; any legislation should grand meaningful liability protection to companies believed to have assisted in efforts to defend our nation following the 9/11 attacks.

Unfortunately we live in a world of terrorism and hopefully I didn’t just shatter your world with that revelation. Protecting the nation is among the President’s and intelligence community’s highest priorities and the tools provided for in past legislation have aided in avoiding unspeakable catastrophes. Point blank: the vital authorities to surveil overseas targets under the PAA will expire in less than two months, and Congress must act to keep America safe by making these provisions permanent.

If you’re tired of Reid, Pelosi, and company putting their liberal agenda before your safety and security then tell them! Don’t be silent anymore because MoveOn certainly won’t.

This comment section is for the readers of Ft. Hard Knox, a place for political conservatives to share information about online activism. We are not "fair and balanced," and we aren't refereeing a "free speech zone." Intelligent, funny, and on-topic comments are welcome. Trolls, spam, and liberal propaganda are not. We may occassionally approve a comment with an obvious lefty-slant so that we can amuse ourselves by making fun of it, but most will be deleted. (Why? Because we're busy, we have lives, and when we want to talk to you we'll go visit you on Digg or the Daily KOS.)

Hint: One sure-fire way to get your comment sent directly to the "spam" folder is to call us "racists" for disagreeing with a policy of the current POTUS or speaking out against terrorism.
