How Collaboration Not Competition Could Beat McCain

John McCain will most likely be the Republican nomination because of the current competitive process. However, I believe collaboration, not competition, could stop the McCain express. Here’s how.
Conservatism stands on three or more legs — moral conservatism, fiscal conservatism, defense, and Constitutionalism. Some have included Constitutional conservatism as a fourth leg while others lump it in with a fiscal and moral conservatism. Whatever the view, each of the current candidates going up against John McCain has one part of the leg. Neither has them all. Here is how they could work together to defeat John McCain.
They need to form a collaboration. Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are true fiscal conservatives. Mike Huckabee is a true social conservative. Ron Paul is a Constitutional conservative. All are pro-military, pro-defense conservatives. Together they would make up the conservative stool. By creating a union where they worked together to defeat John McCain, they would be unstoppable.
Instead, they are working against each other. It is the classic divide and conquer that allows John McCain to do so well. You see, the others (Romney, Paul, and Huckabee) are canceling each other out and McCain is the one left standing. It doesn’t have to be that way.
By creating a union, for example, of Mitt Romeny and Mike Huckabee as president and vice-president running mates, they could take down the McCain express. I also believe adding Ron Paul into the mix (if not Veep then Chief of Staff) would also add greater power.
I realize this is a pipe dream. The nature of our political system is to compete until one is left standing after a negative and bloody mess. However, it doesn’t have to be.
