Missing In America Project

I just wanted to bring to peoples attention information about a group known as the Missing in America Project. This story was recently on the news here in MO and I feel compelled to get the word out.

From MIAP.us

“Mission Statement: the purpose of the MIA Project is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. To provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.”

It seems that, probably through various reasons, the Federal Government lost track of what could be THOUSANDS of cremated remains of our veterans. In the case of one facility in Oregon, there were an estimated 1,000 canisters in various stages of disrepair laying on dusty shelves in dingy storerooms. I am not even going to attempt to convey my disgust at this indignity. I do encourage everyone to check out their website, and if you feel like I do, donate to the MIAP cause. This is not Republican/Democrat/Liberal/Conservative issue. Its an American issue. And it screams to be remedied.
