Updated, FoxNews is reporting:
Berkeley’s City Council voted two weeks ago to send a letter to a downtown recruiting station advising the U.S. Marines they are not welcome.
After a marathon session that stretched into early Wednesday, the council decided not to send the letter, saying they recognize recruiters’ right to be in Berkeley. The council said they still strongly oppose the war and the recruitment of young people into it, but “deeply respect and support” the men and women of the armed forces.
Move America Forward and the Marines held their protest yesterday outside Berkeley City Council meeting, and Code Pink showed up to counter-protest. Updated: Following are links to photos of the event.

Jenn, the first thing I have to say is, with respect to the Berkely City Council’s claim that they “‘deeply respect and support’ the men and women of the armed forces,”, does anyone want to buy a bridge- it’s got a lovely view of Brooklyn.
The second thing I have to say to both the Berkely City Council and Code pink is, ” If you don’t want to stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.”
Oh, and it was mentioned on Michael Savage Tuesday afternoon by a congressman ( I forget his name, but you can go to Michael Savages web site), that Code Pink was blocking access to the Marine Recruiting Depot and blocking access to a military recruiting depot/training center is a federal offense.
Forgot to add, that the Berkely City Council’s “apology” is as phony as a 3-dollar bill and the only reason they changed their mind is because Congress threatened to take away their funding.
I have one of the pictures that I could not find when I went back to locate it at Move America Forward. It is the first picture on “Berkeley Protest(s) and updates.” (How are ya?
