Don’t Turn Over Global AIDS Funds to the Abortion Lobby

…from Tony Perkins, of the Family Research Council:

The House Foreign Affairs Full Committee markup on the PEPFAR/Global AIDS reauthorization bill has been re-scheduled for Thursday, February 28. The current draft by new Chairman Howard Berman (D-Calif.) still deemphasizes the values that have made our international anti-HIV program successful and that have made the United States respected in the countries where it is implemented. The Berman bill would eliminate that success to create a massive $10 billion per year pot that will be tilted toward abortion operators and promoters.

While President Bush is touring Africa and receiving nearly unanimous praise from African leaders on his AIDS program, Rep. Berman and the Democratic Leadership are taking PEPFAR, created to protect future generations in Africa, and trying to change it into a program that would instead help to eliminate those generations. This bill was originally passed and signed into law only with hard work from both sides of the aisle. Now the Democratic leadership is shutting out any pro-life, pro-Africa voices and eliminating the successful ABc model of promoting abstinence, being faithful and, only when necessary, using condoms. Rep. Berman instead would mandate full integration with abortion operators and could even require the provision of abortion, all paid for by American taxpayers. Furthermore, the draft bill removes the Prostitution Pledge, essentially giving the U.S. government’s stamp of approval on prostitution and sex trafficking. You need to e-mail your Representative to stop this from happening!

Please take the time and send the Congress a clear message now. Aid for Africa must not reward the abortion lobby. Thank you for taking part in this effort!

Speak Your Mind

This comment section is for the readers of Ft. Hard Knox, a place for political conservatives to share information about online activism. We are not "fair and balanced," and we aren't refereeing a "free speech zone." Intelligent, funny, and on-topic comments are welcome. Trolls, spam, and liberal propaganda are not. We may occassionally approve a comment with an obvious lefty-slant so that we can amuse ourselves by making fun of it, but most will be deleted. (Why? Because we're busy, we have lives, and when we want to talk to you we'll go visit you on Digg or the Daily KOS.)

This is a private blog, and we reserve the right to make up our own rules as we go along. The few comments which manage to squeak by our censors reflect the opinion of the commentator, and not necessarily the staff of Ft. Hard Knox.

Hint: One sure-fire way to get your comment sent directly to the "spam" folder is to call us "racists" for disagreeing with a policy of the current POTUS or speaking out against terrorism.
