Interesting, but let’s separate the speculation from the condemnation.

“853.355 from the Energy and Natural Resources sector”

Not sure that’s relevant since you gave the numbers for oil and that is specifically what you are accusing him of being hypocritical about. That’s too broad a category to really provide much meaningful information.

“$13,456.386 from the Lawyers and Lobbyists sector.”

Uh, you may need to refine this a little. The same site you are referencing breaks lawyers and lobbyists down into separate categories as well. Of that 13,456,386 only $115,163 was under the categroy “lobbyists”. Less than 1%. Less than other candidates like Fred Thompson and Joseph Biden who aren’t even in the race any more. And since anyone who makes an individual contribution of $200 or more is categorized by the site based upon their employer, those could be from legitimate individuals contributing small amounts. It may indicate dishonesty on Obama’s part, but when you select the most damning numbers when more accurate ones are available, it makes your credibility suffer at least as much as his.

“And $213,884 directly from Oil companies.”

This was the accurate number under the contribution heading “Oil and Gas”. It is a bit misleading to say oil companies when, as I stated before, it clearly says on the site that their totals include individual contributions of $200 or more and categorizes them “based on the donor’s occupation/employer”. Though I only spend a few minutes looking through the site, it seems that, for example, union members donating $200 or more that work in oil or gas would have their money categorized this way. And the total for Obama is paltry for the size of the campaigns. It is nearly $90,000 or so less than Hillary, $180,000 less than McCain’s total, half of Rommey’s total, and a third of what Giuliani had raised.

Call them out when they’re dishonest. I’m all for that. Just check the water level before you dive. Don’t find things that aren’t there or exaggerate little things that may not even be an issue. In the end it will just harm your credibility and that sort of needling to find a weakness or sometimes try to create one is the sort of non-debate discussion that hurts our ability to discuss issues reasonably.

I don’t believe that the words “I don’t take money from Oil Companies or Lobbyists” leaves him much wiggle room, obviously you believe he can lie “a little”. The job of diplomacy is precise, Obama has just proven he can’t handle it and that he is not near as smart as he thinks he. His views on gun control are also doing flip flops but at least there he lies and says he doesn’t mind people owning owning instead of what he means which is “People line up and register all your guns so we can remove them from your possession because no one needs to hunt or target shoot in this country.” BTW thanks for bothering to read the article and thank you for your comments.
