A Move and a Change of Focus

Ron’s Musings has been publishing for going on two years.  In that time a lot of posts have come and gone.  At times I’ve been on fire and posting several posts per day.  Other times I’ve gone weeks without posting at all.

Part of the problem, aside from having a life, is the fact that I’ve split my attention between multiple blogs.  Besides Ron’s Musings there’s Universitas Veritas and Defeat Lindsey Graham.  Both are good sites but they take time.  Both have suffered even more than Ron’s Musings.  But additionally, I have been working, primarily behind the scenes, at Ft Hard Knox.  To this point I have primarily been the web master/tech guy at Ft Hard Knox.  Occasionally I’ve written posts there or cross posted from Ron’s Musings to Ft Hard Knox.

After struggling for some time over what I ought to be doing and fretting over languishing blogs, I’ve come to the conclusion that my energies are better spent on one blog only.  And that blog is Ft Hard Know.  So this will be my last post at Ron’s Musings for the foreseeable future.  The blog will, however, remain up indefinitely.  There’s a lot of good stuff here and I want it to remain available.

This also serves as something of an introductory post at Ft Hard Knox.  While I have posted here, it is likely that only staff knows anything about me or my writing.  Since Ron’s Musings is going to remain up you are free to do so.  Take a look at the about page and you’ll get a pretty good thumbnail sketch of where I’m coming from.

This hasn’t been an easy decision.  I’ve put a lot of work and energy into Ron’s Musings.  I’ve put a lot of myself.  But after nearly a year of working with Jenn Sierra at Ft Hard Knox I’m convinced this is the right place to be expending my energies.  Jenn’s goals, and those of the rest of the staff here, are consistent with mine.  We want to spread conservatism.  We want to make it easier for other conservatives to get involved in activism, whether online or offline.  We want to assist those who are not internet savvy to be able to access information relevant to that cause.

In a year Ft Hard Knox has extended its reach well beyond what anyone might have reasonably expected.  While not yet top tier, we are known in the conservative blogosphere.  I cannot say the same for Ron’s Musings.  So, I could continue writing for my own blog with a tiny readership and split my attention between that and Ft Hard Knox or I could focus all my attention on Ft Hard Knox.  For me, framed that way, it is a no brainer.  My path is clear.

So from now on, all my blogging energies will be focused here, both technical and creative.  If you are a reader at Ron’s Musings, I encourage you to bookmark Ft Hard Knox.  If you ended up here for the first time coming from Ron’s Musings, stick around.  If you liked what you read at Ron’s Musings you’ll like Ft Hard Knox even better.

The last year here at Ft Hard Knox has been quite a learning experience for all of us.  We’ve tried a number of different things and, as mentioned above, we’ve grown our traffic far beyond reasonable expectations.  While we’ve accomplished a lot, we’ve no intention of sitting on our accomplishments.  We have a long way to go to make this what it can be.  I’m excited about being a part of what’s to come.  We’ve got some big plans and I’m confident will Ft Hard Knox will continue to surprise everyone. Stick around, the best is yet to come.

Speak Your Mind

This comment section is for the readers of Ft. Hard Knox, a place for political conservatives to share information about online activism. We are not "fair and balanced," and we aren't refereeing a "free speech zone." Intelligent, funny, and on-topic comments are welcome. Trolls, spam, and liberal propaganda are not. We may occassionally approve a comment with an obvious lefty-slant so that we can amuse ourselves by making fun of it, but most will be deleted. (Why? Because we're busy, we have lives, and when we want to talk to you we'll go visit you on Digg or the Daily KOS.)

This is a private blog, and we reserve the right to make up our own rules as we go along. The few comments which manage to squeak by our censors reflect the opinion of the commentator, and not necessarily the staff of Ft. Hard Knox.
