The Wall Street Journal is reporting:
Seventeen Iraq combat veterans are running for House seats as Republicans, pledging to continue the war once in Congress and linking themselves to Sen. John McCain’s candidacy for president.
As Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, prepares to go to Capitol Hill Tuesday to discuss his record there, some of the vets also came to Washington to link themselves to the general whose 2007 troop surge they believe has improved America’s prospects for victory…(more)
They are requesting help on their website, IraqVetsForCongress.com:
4,000 individual contributions of just $25 to each Iraq Vet for Congress will make us all extremely competitive and send a clear message to our opponents that Republicans are going to take back the House and our squad of Iraq Vets will be leading the way.
Of course, we will accept smaller and large contributions but we are hoping that the $25 contributions will be the backbone of our efforts….Click here to find out more, and contribute.
Since Senator John McCain is a war hero, it’s not too surprising that he would receive support from these veterans, but what is surpising is this, from JoinOrDie08.com:
We stand at a time where the buzz word is Change. What happened to Reform or Revolution?
We stand against Socialism and another Democratic Party takeover.
This is a crossroad.
We are voting Republican and holding them accountable.
Will you stand with us?
We are Ron Paul admirers who will vote for John McCain in November!

What a crock!
McCain can claim to have won over Ron Paul supporters, or Obama supporters or Clinton supporters, or supporters of anyone else. That doesn’t make it true!
I’m a huge Ron Paul fan and I love Join,Or Die 2008 McCain is now our man we must defeat the democrats!
Unite the GOP
McCrazy is a poor candidate for commander in chief. Since when do we support letting a man with a questionable temperament control the nuclear arsenal? I’m a lifelong Republican that supports impeachment for *all* current lawbreaking officeholders and I will only campaign for Republican candidates that support our traditional platform, not those that support illegal pre-emptive wars. Declare the wars or end them.
