RonBots Still Marching, Trying to Take Over County Conventions
While Ron Paul has long since given up on the Republican presidential nomination, his supporters have not. In an email sent out Saturday, Restore the Republic, an organization of Ron Paul supporters, makes the following charge:
At the Nueces County Republican party convention, March 29th, in Corpus Christ Texas, Ron Paul supporters walked out in protest and held their own emergency convention in the parking lot. Republican party Chairperson Mike Bertuzzi grossly violated party rules by announcing new delegates to the morning’s roll call who were never elected as precinct delegates on the night of the Republican primary, then again by ignoring repeated objections by party delegates, which he is required to recognize.
They claim that local newspaper reports were one sided, indicating that party chair Mike Bertuzzi was a hero for thwarting the attempt to take over the party. Interestingly, however, a successful takeover occurred April 9th in Missouri’s 5th congressional district. In that country convention Ron Paul supporters won all three delegates to the Republican Convention using similar tactics to the events in Texas. According to the Kansas City Star:
Republicans who support Texas congressman Ron Paul for president won all three available national convention seats from Missouri’s 5th Congressional District on Saturday.
The delegates, who will attend the GOP convention in Minneapolis this September, still are expected to vote for Sen. John McCain on the first ballot, unless party rules change.
But they hope to force the Republican Party to more closely reflect Paul’s libertarian views.
…
The compromise also allowed Farrington to pick two of the district’s three alternates to the convention, as well as the 5th District’s presidential elector.
Ron Paul supporters claim they want to work with the party, not against it. But by all appearances, they will do whatever they can to thwart the voters who actually voted in primaries. In Missouri only 4% voted for Ron Paul, yet the RonBots will do virtually anything to invalidate those votes and try to give the nomination to Paul in spite of the fact that he earned very few delegates through the primaries.
There is very little information on the Corpus Christi, TX convention apart from the one newspaper account and the Restore the Republic account. Various Google searches turned up no further information except one blog that simply repeated, verbatim, the Restore our Republic account. Still, it is difficult for me to believe the Nueces Country convention violated rules in such a flagrant way while local media completely covered it up.
After the early primary season and the way Ron Paul supporters successful skewed virtually every online poll in an attempt to make it appear Paul had more support than he actually did, I am not surprised they would go to such lengths. They think they have the right guy and to hell with anyone else’s vote. To them, as with many Democrats, the end justifies the means. For a group that claims to be so committed to the Constitution, they have a strange way of showing it considering they have no respect for the democratic process.
UPDATE:
Here’s another example of RonBots attempting to take over a county convention. This is from the RonBot’s perspective but note the comments. FOlks this is a concerted national effort to take over Republican county conventions for the purpose of nominating Ron Paul outside the primary process. Attention is primarily on the fight in the Democrat Party and the possibility that voters will be ignored there. Very little attention is being paid to the Republican Party and that provides cover for these fascists.
If you have an upcoming country convention, please, make sure your local party chair is aware of this move and is prepared to fend it off. Otherwise, the RonBots might just succeed in making a mockery of the democratic voting process and millions of voters will be disenfranchised as a result. This is no joke.

I find it to be quite amusing when interested people succeed in their efforts to be represented only to be then be labled something like ‘Ronbots”. IMHO, way too many conservatives are long on talk and rarely represented when it comes time to show up to do the hard work.
I was an active member of Michigan’s GOP through 2 election cycles. I’ll not be returning this year as I see no reason to do so. Perhaps you would be willing to fill the void? If not, there are always the ‘Ronbots’.
I appear to have struck a nerve. Danny, are you the sort to try to subvert the democratic process? If not, I would not characterize you as a RonBot, even if you are a Ron Paul supporter.
The term RonBot applies to the small army of people who were coordinated to spam every online poll during the primaries. It is a fact that Ron Paul won nearly every online poll, even though he never polled over about 4% nationally. That small army of spammers was well coordinated and directed to virtually every online poll. We knew here at FHK that we could get a huge bump in traffic simply by running a poll that included Ron Paul. And true to form, the RonBots came out in force every time.
That same approach is being used throughout the country to try to take over Republican county cconventions so I think the term RonBots is appropriate. But again, not all Ron Paul supporters are RonBots and I did not imply that they are.
I too am very dissatisfied with the GOP and if you’ve read anything I’ve written you know that I’ve said long and loud that I have no intention of voting for John McCain. He is not my guy by any stretch of the imagination. But he IS the legitimate nominee of the party. Efforts to take over county conventions across the nation to change that outcome are simply wrong!
My apologies for returning to this topic so late, but such is life for me right now.
Ronnie, I believe that you may be right about the term RonBot applies to the small army of people who were coordinated to spam every online poll during the primaries even though no one has shown proof of that conspiracy theory. My point remains that when people are being active in a political campaign they are known to be grass roots supporters. Utilizing [incorrectly] sophmoric titles only serves to make republicans look as bad as their counterparts [liberals].
My secondary point remains relevant. If you, or others don’t like the Ron Paul supporters efforts then you will have to get directly involved. Staying home and whining just doesn’t get results. Period.
To say that it is unproven that RonBots spammed online polls is simply ridiculous. It is proven! Checking FHK logs it was easy to see where they came from when we ran polls. They were directed to specifically spam polls.
As for your final comment, I agree that merely whining is unproductive. Letting others know what’s going on, however, isn’t merely whining. It is spreading the word. How effective it is remains to be seen but considering how little the MSM reported it, it is absolutely essential that people like me spread the word. I’d say that IS getting directly involved.
