Does McCain Want to Win?
After McCain won enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination, the general wisdom was that he would have to work hard to bring the conservative core of the Republican Party over to his side. For a while it appeared that he was actually trying to do that. But the honeymoon is over.
Today is Cinco de Mayo and McCain chose this date to unveil his Spanish languish web site. I have my reservations about a Spanish languish site considering American citizens, the only one’s who can vote, should be able to read an English language site. But the site itself isn’t the big problem. What is a problem is McCain’s return to language reminiscent of the McCain-Kennedy debate.
McCain is now saying that Republicans have hurt themselves by opposing McCain-Kennedy and he wants to turn that around. He’ll do so basically by implementing McCain-Kennedy once elected! It makes one wonder how sincere McCain was when he said he was a conservative and wanted to work with conservatives. Clearly he doesn’t think he needs to worry about us too much now.
I’ve been convinced for a while now that McCain would win in November. Between the Rev. Wright revelations and Operation Chaos, it has really looked like neither Democrat candidate could eventually win in the general election. Perhaps that has made McCain resume his cocky attitude. Regardless of the cause, McCain may be in for a rude surprise if he continues down this road.
Conservatives are tired of being taken for granted. There are many who have just about had it and I don’t think McCain gets that. He thinks he can win without conservatives by appealing to centrists and independents. I don’t think he can. McCain said he knew he needed conservatives to win but isn’t acting like he knows any such thing.
Today McCain also talked about his record of reaching across the aisle, proclaiming he’d put his record against anyone in the GOP. Well I guess he would! That’s part of the problem. Every time McCain reaches across the aisle the American people get screwed. Conservatives want their elected officials to work to protect conservative ideals and principles, not find ways to make liberal ideas a little less offensive. While compromise is occasionally necessary, it should not be what Republicans go to Washington to do. In McCain’s case, his reputation as the Democrat’s favorite Republican is well deserved and conservatives aren’t interested in continuing down that path.
McCain is poised to win in November in spite of his reputation and record. But he isn’t guaranteed to win and he needs to realize that. He can squander this amazing situation and he appears to be working to do just that.

Does he wnt to win? Normally, I would take this as a rhetorical question, but after McCain’s announcement today, that he’s plannin g to attend the LaRaza annual convention, I’m seriously wondering if he’s actually taking this election seriously.
Let’s remember, his campaign is being partially funded by George Soros…who is also contributing to Hillary and Obama, and who may have also been the mastermind behind McCain-Feingold, which ultimately resulted in this Democrat wannabe running for POTUS as a Republican.

I have to agree with you assessment of McCain. I think, however, that he thinks he can win if he can take the Latino votes away from Hillary. I certainly haven’t counted out an Obama win. A young person asked me the other day, “Why don’t we hear anything about McCain on TV? All we hear about is Obama and Hillary.”
I tried to explain that until the Democratic race is decided we probably wouldn’t hear that much. My young friend said, “By then it may just be too late!”
If we could get really down-hard-dirty honest with ourselves we’d realize that the vast middle class of American citizens are so desperately unorganized, unrepresented, and down-hearted that nobody in Washington really gives a DA_N!!!

This is John McCain’s most obvious weakness. Many movement conservatives will not vote for him because of this issue alone. Principled opposition to John McCain may be larger than is expected by some pundits because it comes both from the right and the left.
i don’t feel any obligation whatsoever to vote for “the republican.” The people don’t exist for the party, the part exists for the people. It either represents their sentiments or it doesn’t. If McCain is the federal head of the republican party, than I have no reservations about not voting for him. And frankly, since the question is not even close to “who represents my sentiments?” anymore, and something more along the lines of “who will take the longest amount of time to completely destroy this country?” than Billary’s pragmatic inclinations make her (and I suppose him) my girl.
I agree, I feel no obligation to vote for McCain. And many many conservatives feel the same way. That’s the point. McCain acted like he wanted to win conservatives after he had enough delegates to win the nomination. He said he knew he couldn’t win without us. Well it’s only been a short while and he’s already sticking his thumb in our eyes!
