A TALE OF TWO COUNTRIES

Once upon a time, there was this big country we will call it X-land. In this country there were several ethnic groups and the rulers of X-land lived in a far away land. The country was united through a common language and religion.

The rulers decided to let a few people from another country immigrate. X-land needed immigrants so that the land could be used and few of the indigenous people of X-land had any desire to, but these immigrants brought with them a new language and new religions. The new immigrants then brought their family and friends into X-land. They were able to do this because there was no border security. Because the leaders of X-land were so distant they were slow to react.

The immigrants got together to resist the mandatory language of X-land and they started guerrilla actions against the people of X-land. Some of the X-land citizens joined with them and then it became open warfare. The immigrants won with assistance from their original country.

They formed a new land. It was a land where now they spoke their native language not the language of X-land. They could practice their religion and ceremonies, not the mandated religion and ceremonies of X-land.

This story is not a fairy tale and it is not the story about the current immigration problems facing America (but it could be). It is a basic story of the birth of Texas (some issues have been omitted.)
