Irreverent Rev. Jeremiah Wright: Just words?

The following is 3 of 6 of a series by Marie Jon’, entitled Obama Behind the Mask, and has been re-posted here with the author’s permission.

“Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13-15)

The church of Black Liberation Theology has finally been exposed. The curtain of omission woven by the agenda-driven media has been rent in two. The unholy altar of unacceptable racism and anti-Americanism has finally been seen for what it is — an unabashedly black militant church in Chicago.

America was given a small snippet of what was obviously an ongoing theme within the sanctuary of Obama’s church. We can see clearly how Rev. Jeremiah Wright brought out the worst in human nature. The congregation’s unrighteous shouts of “amen” were uttered with glee, along with inappropriate laughter as hateful words were spewed by their senior pastor.

Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” (Matthew 7:15-20)

Pastor Wright purposefully riled up his flock and then led them astray. Impressionable little children and youth were also there to hear the ugly, shameful words. What was desperately needed was God’s transforming power applied to Pastor Wright’s own life before he ever took on the mantle of tending to God’s lambs.

America saw a pastor who is spiritually lacking. He was given prominence to hold sway over people in search of God’s love and a righteous attitude. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5) Unfortunately, the congregation received the gospel of Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, not the gospel of the Almighty.

How many Americans would vote for a presidential candidate who was the member of a church that professed the following credo?” — Erik Rush

  1. Commitment to God
  2. Commitment to the White Community
  3. Commitment to the White Family
  4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
  5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
  6. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
  7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
  8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
  9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community
  10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
  11. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System
  12. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.

Under Reverend Wright’s leadership, The Trinity United Church of Christ is as dry bones, devoid of the genuine love of Jesus Christ. Love that is of the Lord forgives, and it never fails. Don’t hold your breath for better days ahead at the church Obama attends; the new pastor was tutored to be a mere reflection of his predecessor. The tenor of the words printed on flyers that were handed out to the news reporters were calculatedly abrasive.

The main Conference office of The United Church of Christ is responsible for not exercising its authority and putting a stop to this shameful conduct. Instead of correcting and admonishing Pastor Wright’s conduct, the Conference looked the other way.

The rantings of Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright is the outcome of his attachment to a forever shackling theology that is in no way liberating. The man-made doctrines feed on people’s hurts. Christian theologians view Black Liberation Theology as abusive and a form of Marxism masquerading as Christianity.

There are spiritual problems fermenting within black militant churches that refuse to teach the blessed gospel, such as Trinity United Church of Christ, plain, clear and simple. They reject God’s Word.

The display at Trinity United Church of Christ was that of angry people who appear miserably wretched, relishing their unruly ways. What America saw was the result of being part of a church that provided no soulful lasting peace, rather it encouraged degrading baseness. “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves to sin.” (Romans 6:6)

There is a misconception touted by those who adhere to Black Liberation Theology. Dr. Martin Luther King did not teach such a doctrine. He died helping to set this country aright. White America was ready to embrace such a godly man. At the time, America wanted to be at her best.

Because of the teachings of churches such as Trinity United Church of Christ, many will depart from the Christian faith. They will become much more angry and despairing. They were not shown the faith: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

Instead of peace, the congregation is given vile hate-speech to digest each Lord’s Day. They are brutally admonished that they lived in “White America,” inferring that they are despised by others who are not black. “America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” According to Rev. Wright, the United States was at fault for what took place on September 11, 2001.

The teachings at Trinity United are not representative of other denominations. Contemptuous divisiveness is not preached within orthodox Christianity. Within most black communities, Christian congregations are resting and abiding in the fullness of God’s grace and love. His people view others in a positive way. They are not obsessed with their color or that of others. Christ-centered believers do not see themselves as downtrodden or alienated from society. A spirit-filled life brings joy and happiness. Christians grow in Agape love with each and every passing day.

Before this presidential race is over, Obama will be seen as just another lying politician. There will be more revelations of his political dealings and associations that the media will leak to the public. His eloquent words will begin to ring hallow in the light of who he has continued to associate himself with. Anything he says from this point will on be scrutinized with more zeal than ever.

Obama’s speech of March 18 did little or nothing to repair the damage that has been done. It brought neither comfort nor closure to those who were deeply offended and troubled by the association with his pastor.

The Democrat Party is guilty of playing on the fears of black America for their own political gain and expediency. America needs a president, not a continual controversy over race and bigotry. We have already dealt with that matter. Good citizens want the very best for all people of color. Americans have been deeply hurt and insulted by the words of an irreverent pastor. Senator Obama can’t say enough to make those feelings go away.
