Loony Legislator Quote of the Day: “Bush Administration Covered Up Threats of Global Warming (Sen. Barbara Boxer)”

You have heard me say many times that this Administration has downplayed the dangers posed by global warming. They have used every excuse to avoid taking action, even hiding behind China and India.

Now, thanks to a very brave former EPA official, Jason Burnett, who has responded to an inquiry from this committee, who is here today, we know that the Administration’s efforts have been about covering up the real dangers of global warming and hiding the facts from the public.

This cover-up is being directed from the White House and the Office of the Vice President.

Newsflash, Sen. Boxer…thanks to loudmouths like you and your buddy Al Gore, President Bush couldn’t “cover up” the global warming hype if he wanted to.

But that’s ok. Ten years from now, Bush and Cheney will be laughing along with the rest of us, at the antics of the crazy “global warming freaks” of this decade – much the way we laugh now at the folks who got rid of their hairspray in the ’70’s to prevent bringing on the next ice age, the health nuts in the 1990’s who quit eating eggs to prevent cholesteral buildup, the scholars in the middle ages for insisting that the world was flat and labeling everyone who thought otherwise a “heretic,” and ourselves for once believing that Pluto was a planet.
