Tony Snow

My heart is broken this morning. I just received an e-mail from my friend Leslie letting me know that Tony Snow has died. As a Christian, I firmly believe that Tony has moved on to a much better place, but my heart is heavy for his family, his friends, and for the conservative movement in America. We’ve lost a good man.

I had a chance to hear Tony Snow close CPAC this year. This year’s CPAC had been a rather sad one overall, with a lot of good-byes, but I will always remember the way Tony came on the stage, and lit the room up with his smile, warmth, enthusiasm, exhortation, encouragement, and energy. As he said in this speech, America is great because of our goodness. Tony, this was true of you, too…You’ll be missed.

Update, Michelle Malkin has more, including this video, of Tony jamming with his band at the National Press Club:

Very nice post, Jenn. We do not mourn as those without hope. I look forward to the day when we may hear Mr. Snow speak again.

I spent a good deal of the day today watching FOX News as they honored Tony Snow. I really felt like I’d lost a friend. This is a sad day for his family and for America. Tony showed us how to stand for what we believe in without being vitriolic and combative. He was a gentleman all the way and his optimism was outstanding. I will miss him.

Juan Williams said the most perceptive thing today on FOX News. He told a story about how his young son, upon hearing Tony Snow on the radio doing a White House press briefing, said “that’s our Tony Snow!” (Remember that Juan Williams is a liberal.) Williams opined that that’s how he thought people saw Tony, as “our” Tony. I agreed completely. I felt like Tony Snow was one of us, that he understood, that he was a real, honest guy.
