Longmans Contemporary English Dictionary defines ‘cant’ thus:

Cant. 1 [kaent] N. Insincere talk about moral or religious principles by someone who is pretending to be better than they really are. A politician’s cant about family values. 2. Special words used by a particular group of people, especially in order to keep things secret: thieves cant. 3. A sloping surface or angle.

For some folks there are no yes or no answers to anything, unless they’re aimed in mindless hyperbole at George Bush.
