A Portent of Things to Come

The Boston Globe on Sunday 20 July 2008 ran a story about just how Barrack Obama’s campaign is being run. Barack has bought his campaign the largest paid staff in political history. Where are the true investigative reporters when we really need them, digging into his finances, contributions and circumstances of birth? (Oh, that’s right they are giggling over his basketball prowess and his vacuous oratory skills.)

While in the past most voters have realized that candidate for President will inevitably “owe” some political favors and that’s the reason for the Plum Book. With a current paid staff of over 900 and growing (many on leave from their other government jobs) and an unpaid staff in the millions (many in the employ of the media) it is frightening to image the possibility of the Federal Government’s doubling in size. Perhaps this is how Obama plans on staffing his half a million strong armed security force, with political appointees beholden to their messiah.

I wonder if in the FEC filing Obama’s campaign bothered to list the donated costs of the all adoring media time his campaign gets free of charge? Change You Can Believe In? I believe all right…I believe Obama with his socialist platform will transform this country into an armed camp with dissenters beaten and imprisoned. I believe he wants to destroy the Constitution and this Country. I believe he will say anything and do anything to get what he wants, not what the people want or what’s best for this Country but for himself and whoever is pulling his strings.

Well SOMETHING has to awaken this country! So far little has worked. Perhaps Mr. Obama can actually rouse the slumbering masses who presently seem to have little notion of what’s going on or where this country is actually headed. Isn’t it always darkest before the dawn?

Who are these “slumbering masses”? Most of America has been successfully indocrinated in the socialist public school system for the last two generations, and doesn’t even understand why Obama’s ideas and methods are wrong.

The vast majority of Christians have stopped reading the Bible for themselves, and don’t even understand how it relates to the U.S.A.. We can’t count on them to rise up and do much of anything except cower in the corner like victims with no recourse.

And far too many political conservatives are just now figuring out that the internet has been overtaken by communist propaganda, and instead of fighting it, so many want to just avoid dealing with it altogether.

In 1979 I had a brother in a coma in the hospital. Well-meaning folks kept coming up to me, and to my parents and telling us not to worry, that things were always “darkest before the dawn.” Well, our dawn in that situation never came. He died. So, sometimes it just seems “darkest” right before things get even darker.

Now, 2008, is the time to fight the evil that is overtaking America. If we don’t, 2010, and 2012 may be too late.

Don’t mince words Jenn, tell me how you really feel!

Seriously, darkest before the dawn doesn’t necessarily mean that dawn is coming. That would be a logical fallacy. There are certainly other situations where darkest seems to come first. One example may be the end of America as we know it. That’s why I’ve advocated ending this constant lesser of two evils approach that I believe has landed us where we are.

You know my argument since I’ve expressed it on these pages. I don’t see voting for McCain as in any way fighting evil. Rather, I believe supporting McCain is supporting evil. Yes, Obama is, perhaps, more evil. But I’ve determined to stop supporting evil at all.

As for the sleeping masses, I’ve argued this before here too and your comment supports my position. Things have to get worse at a more accelerated rate before people will see actual cause and effect. As it is and has been, results lag causes by to great a margin for the average person to put them together. This is absolutely the result of our modern education system that fails (intentionally in my view) to teach critical thinking. Until effects are obviously related to their causes, the American electorate will not wake up from its stupor.

I understand your point, Ron, and respect your opinion, but just completely disagree. Thank you for articulating it, however, in a rational, respectful manner. If I could actually visualize liberal America waking up when they realize Obama is president, I might be willing to give this approach a try.

I just don’t see it happening. Yes, I know a lot of folks are hoping Obama will bring on the next Reagan. But the “Moral Majority” got Reagan elected when they convinced a bunch of (relatively) conservative Democrats to vote Republican. The men who formed the Moral Majority are mostly deceased, and we’re in a whole different world now. My fear is that with a socialist Senate, House and President (and soon a socialist Supreme Court) running our lives, schools and the internet, the conservatives and Christians will be treated as political dissidents, and will soon be driven underground. And there is no place else to go.
