Update: Ron, our IT Guy, is so committed to this project, he’s trying to stay on deadline in the face of an approaching hurricane, so we’re beginning the construction process a little early. Feel free to look around, but remember your hardhat, and watch where you step.

(Ron – don’t blow away! We need you!)

Original post by Jenn, 8/26/08: Last week, I mentioned that Buffoon (of the D=S blog) has been working on a new logo for FHK, and Ron has been working on installing and setting up a new “magazine theme” for our blog. If you’d like to get a sneak-peek at the new blog, go here (we’re using Revolution). Our official “Grand Re-Opening” will be the Saturday after Labor Day, September 6, 2008.

The other exciting announcement we have is that by the end of September, the WebWarriors of Ft. Hard Knox (WWF) are planning to launch our first Web 2.0 Online Workshop, called “OK, I’m online. Now what?!”

In the workshop we’ll cover:

  • How to develop your online profile
  • How to use the social networks effectively
  • How to know which Web 2.0 media (blogging? wikis? social networks? e-mail lists? etc.) will help you meet your personal/professional goals online

These workshops will take place entirely online, and will use a combination of live and pre-recorded video demonstrations and online web conferencing tools. All of the materials will be stored in an 24/7 members-only discussion forum, where workshop attendees will be able to work with each other, ask questions of the WWF team, and catch-up on anything shared in the live demonstrations that they might have missed or want to review.

The first workshop will be a beta-test, and will be free of charge to our Ft. Hard Knox members and their guests, so start thinking about which of your friends, neighbors, and associates might be interested in taking advantage of this opportunity. Beginning in September, updates and information on these workshops will be available in our Weekly WWF Web 2.0 Newsletter, and in our WebWarriors Facebook Group.

Speak Your Mind

This comment section is for the readers of Ft. Hard Knox, a place for political conservatives to share information about online activism. We are not "fair and balanced," and we aren't refereeing a "free speech zone." Intelligent, funny, and on-topic comments are welcome. Trolls, spam, and liberal propaganda are not. We may occassionally approve a comment with an obvious lefty-slant so that we can amuse ourselves by making fun of it, but most will be deleted. (Why? Because we're busy, we have lives, and when we want to talk to you we'll go visit you on Digg or the Daily KOS.)

This is a private blog, and we reserve the right to make up our own rules as we go along. The few comments which manage to squeak by our censors reflect the opinion of the commentator, and not necessarily the staff of Ft. Hard Knox.

Hint: One sure-fire way to get your comment sent directly to the "spam" folder is to call us "racists" for disagreeing with a policy of the current POTUS or speaking out against terrorism.

Your photo will display with your comment if you use gravatars.
