Ron,

I do believe your first sentence however if McCain/Palin pull this out I think the clean-up of D.C. will be absolute thus rendering the McCain Administration at least 4 additional years and then Palin for 8 years if McCain can keep his health. It could very well be 2024 for Democrat’s to get another shot at the Oval Office if they are still a viable party.

This bet by the DNC on Obama was nonsense as will be attested on November 5. Why didn’t Howard run the “bearded yack woman” from Barnum? Stood a better chance I think.

That Clinton should be warmer toward McCain than toward Obama shouldn't surprise. Clinton headed the DLC - Democratic Leadership Council - to help pull the party back toward the center and away from the liberal wing that gave them McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis. Losers all, like Kerry who came later. Clinton worked with Gingrich to "end welfare as we know it", telling the country "the era of big government is over". Obama could never get behind such ideas. Given the choice of a left-wing opportunist and a long serving patriotic centrist, we know where his heart lies.

I don't find this too surprising. After all, if Obama wins, Hillary has eight years to wait. If, however, McCain wins, Hillary will be the heir apparent in 2012.
