I’m Using Zemanta

Are you?

I don’t remember how I found it but when I did, I took the opportunity to give it a test run and I haven’t placed it in the trash yet so it must be doing something right. I’m notoriously picky about “gadgets” and add-on’s I use.
Zemanta can be used either as a browser add-on or a Wordpress plug-in. So far I haven’t noticed any significant browser slowdown and I chose that route because my plug-in list already looks like the first five books of the bible.
I could go on and on providing techie details in my own words but the FAQ and Demo at the Zemanta website gives a very detailed and clear description of what it is, what it can do, what it can’t do and what’s in the works for future releases. Already winning points with me! How many times have you looked into the latest techie “gadget” and walked away from the FAQ more confused than when you started?
So if you feel adventurous go give it a whirl. Below are a few pros and cons from my personal experience so far.
Pros:
- A pretty cool interface when posting to your blog. (see screen shot above)
- It allows you to link up to your MyBlogLog, FaceBook, Twitter and Flickr accounts as well as a few other networks I don’t use. I’m linked to my accounts but I am still testing this for usefulness.
Cons:
- The “related” articles it suggest reads like the front page of Digg, all liberal, all the time. But I am still tinkering with the filter to weed those
disgustingsites out. - The articles it suggest are typically a few days or weeks old, so they are irrelevant much of the time.
Have fun!
NOTE: To all of the Ft. Hard Knox Web Warriors, I really did this because Jenn is very mean to me and made me do it. Beware her wrath!
Also on D=S.
