In a can-this-possibly-be-real, moment, TechCrunch is reporting that BestBuy.com’s planned Thanksgiving and Black Friday ads wish Americans a “Happy Eid al-Adha.” From the clip posted on CrunchGear, it appears BestBuy is not even wishing Americans a Happy Thanksgiving – they simply mention that holiday shopping will not be hindered by the American holiday.

I can’t honestly say I’ll be “boycotting” the store, since I haven’t shopped there in years (since I got sick of their endless rebate scams), but this is just one more reason why I will not be shopping there this year!

Get ready for outrage among Muslim groups that American capitalism is commercializing their sacred holy days. From what I’ve read about Eid al-Adha, BTW, it’s mostly about blood sacrifice (not so much about gift-buying or “celebrating,” per se), so it seems to me like wishing someone a “Happy Eid al-Adha” makes about as much sense logically as wishing someone a “Happy Lent,” but what do I know?

Why would any American business feel the need to acknowledge any religious holidays on what is solely an American holiday. Is this blatant dhimmitude, or political correctness, or both? Am I the only one who finds this just plain weird?
