President Obama Hiding Risks of Moving Guantanamo Bay Detainees to Michigan

Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization, condemns President Obama and Department of Defense Secretary Robert Gates for denying Michigan Congressman Hoekstra’s request to let state and local officials tour the prison at Guantanamo Bay.

“When Americans are rightly concerned and opposed to President Obama’s plan to close Guantanamo Bay Detention Center and bring terrorists to American shores, it is outrageous that the Administration would deny access to a Congressman who represents a state likely to get stuck with the terrorists,” said Shawn Callahan, Executive Director of Move America Forward.

“By denying the reasonable request of Congressman Hoakstra so that he can do his due diligence and see what is involved with Guantanamo, it makes a mockery of the transparency that President Obama touted during his campaign.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra, who is the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, asked the Pentagon to take a look at the facility for terror detainees after a maximum security prison in Standish, Michigan, was named as a potential site to transfer the prisoners. Hoekstra asked that Michigan local officials accompany him to evaluate the risks to Michigan residents.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates told Hoekstra the Administration was seriously reviewing a number of options for relocating the detainees and a visit by state and local officials would be “premature.”

“With Obama demanding the detainees be moved by the end of the year, this would hardly be called ‘premature.’ This is just another move by the Obama administration to stifle opposition or anyone that calls into question the logic of moving terrorists to the U.S. We applaud Congressman Hoekstra’s determination to get the facts,” Callahan concluded.

A Move America Forward delegation traveled to Guantanamo Bay in 2008 to see firsthand the conditions for detainees and U.S. military personnel. We believe the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center is a perfectly acceptable solution that has been operating successfully and greatly contributed to our safety since 9/11. It is a necessary tool in our war on terror.

From Acts17Apologetics:

This is a video of Nabeel Qureshi and David Wood asking questions at Arabfest, Dearborn. The date is June 21st, 2009. There was a booth at the festival which had a banner titled “Islam: Got Questions? Get Answers.” From their table, we picked up a pamphlet claiming that Islam promotes peace. We noticed that it was full of poor logic and errors, so we decided to make a video refuting it. We went to the booth that gave us the pamphlet to give them the opportunity to defend their claims. Security, however, stepped in and forced us to turn off our camera.

We left the booth, received advice from police, and found out that the actions of the security guards were illegal. We went back to the booth to record a potential answer again. Realizing that the Muslims present had no answer, we left.

When we came outside, we were asked some questions by two young men, who had been sent by security to entrap us. While we responded to them, festival security started assaulting us, as you will see in this video. The conclusion of this video is a mob of festival security attacking our cameras, pushing us back, kicking our legs, and lying to the police.

We ask you, is it a coincidence that the city with the highest percentage of Muslims in the United States is the city where Christianity is not allowed to be represented (let alone preached) on a public sidewalk? Is it coincidence that in this city, people will say “No way!” when we say “This is the United States of America”?

Is this what will happen when Islam takes over the United States?

Sign up for our Weekly Web 2.0 Newsletter here! This week’s WebWarrior is Nick DeLeeuw of Right Michigan. Nick was nominated by Melanie Hall (of The Michigan Tea Party Convention, who wrote:

…You really should check him out!! …He not only provides valuable info, but also resources for Michigan activists. He’s currently [as of May 22nd] running a contest for bloggers here, there’s a link on the home page. He’s also pretty active on twitter, and gets involved in panels and conferences on new media. Nick is a great guy and always willing to help out with conservative activities and events.

Well, we’re sorry we missed the contest, but glad that Melanie recommended Mr. DeLeeuw as a WebWarrior.

His site is part blog, part network for Michigan residents. He’s effectively using Twitter and Facebook to keep in touch with readers. His “In the Sphere” feature promotes fellow Michigan bloggers, and he stays involved in the local community by posting on employment rates (a big concern in Michigan currently), and promoting local charities, like the Alpha Center Women’s Life Walk.

His excellent online networking skills have earned him a 5/10 on Google Page rank and a Technorati authority rating of 208 (very good for a state-level blogger). His blog format and design in clean, professional, and easy to navigate and read.

Thanks to Melanie Hall of The Michigan Tea Party Convention for nominating this week’s WebWarrior.

If you’d like to nominate a “WebWarrior” (a conservative using Web 2.0 effectively) e-mail Jenn.

Video you won’t see on any liberal news network. The drive-by media cannot allow America to witness the demise of the democrat party.
