FHK SitRep 11.04.07: Have You Defragged This Month?

sitrep1.JPGHard drives are slow compared to the rest of a computer system, but one way to improve their operation is the “Defragmenter” that comes with MS Windows. This is normally found by clicking (in this order):

  • Start
  • All Programs
  • Accessories
  • System Tools
  • Disk Defragmenter

Depending on how much you surf and download, you should defrag at least monthly. Prior to defragging I recommend you empty your recycle bin and do a “Disk Cleanup”. This will remove old data from your computer that you no longer need and further assist your HDD (hard disk drive) in compacting and relocating your data. Defragging takes time but saves you time in the long run and prolongs the life of your HDD.
