Got this by e-mail…original source unknown.
Today’s Message of the Day is:
Life is short. Break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here we should dance…Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset, or mad, is a full minute of happiness you’ll never get back.

Congress has voted 402-0 to extend the moratorium (that some people in my previous entry refuse to believe was needed).
The update on Breitbart is here.
This is not a permanent fix; it will expire again in seven years, but I would like to thank those of you who responded.

Updated: 10/15/07) Michelle Malkin: Anti-sanctuary measure in the Senate; DREAM Act resurrected
From Numbers USA:
Wednesday Cloture Vote Set For DREAM Act Amnesty Bill
Last night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed to invoke cloture on S. 2205, Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin’s (D-Ill.) new stand-alone DREAM Act amnesty bill. The cloture vote, for which 60 YES votes are necessary to prevent a filibuster on the measure, is set for Wednesday, October 24. Reid is attempting to bring this nightmarish amnesty bill to the floor under Senate Rule XIV without it ever having been debated in committee…
It is imperative that NumbersUSA members call their senators today to ask them to vote NO on cloture for S. 2205.
Call your senators today to ask them to oppose the DREAM Act…
For complete information on how to contact your senators, and find how they plan to vote on this, go here. Continue Reading »

Teddy Roosevelt had some interesting thoughts on American immigration.
On allegiance to America, he spoke against a “50/50 allegiance,” and said:
In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people. (Roosevelt, 1907)

Why should marriage change the way a woman votes? As far as I know I can find no research on the subject. There are plenty of supposition; that their priorities change, that they tend to follow their spouses political beliefs, etc.
Conservatives keep using the term “family values”, does this phrase exclude single women? It seems it does. Single women are, in my opinion, more interested in their future than many give them credit for. It doesn’t matter if they fall into categories of never married or divorced, they worry for the future. And like most people they worry about finances. What are the differences between Conservative and Liberal fiscal platforms? Continue Reading »
