Career politicians and ideological allies have been waging an ever-more-vicious war on citizen initiative rights.
Some of the sordid details are reported in political journalist John Fund’s Wall Street Journal article, “The Far Left’s War on Direct Democracy.”
The tactics used to assail statewide petition drives range from “restrictive laws to outright thuggery.”
The restrictions involve anything from slashing the time allowed for collecting signatures to massively increasing the cost of running a ballot campaign.
The thuggery also takes many forms. Often, so-called “blockers” are recruited to harass circulators and prospective signers.
Seeking to imprison people for ten years for promoting an initiative, based on zero evidence of wrongdoing, also counts as thuggery, I think. That’s what the Oklahoma attorney general is trying to do to Rick Carpenter, Susan Johnson, and Yours Truly. Fund notes the hypocrisy of indicting us for allegedly hiring “out of state” petitioners, when state officials couldn’t care less about how “out of state” the blockers are.

The groups using the most vicious tactics to undermine the process tend to be far left-wing. Their pet causes tend to be much less popular than reforms like term limits, capping state spending, and the like. If they have to destroy democracy to get their way, that’s fine with them.
But we don’t have to let them get away with it.

While the fight goes on on the floor of the House of Representatives over the right to discuss and vote on the will of the people over the objections of the self proclaimed preserver of Earth Nancy Pelosi, Obama continues to spread misinformation in Lansing Michigan at a stump speech. Guess which event the mainstream media is covering?
The mainstream media isn’t paying attention to Congressmen who are standing up for their constituents; instead they are following the empty suit Obama while he proselytizes his and Soros’ socialist beliefs.

A long while back I wrote an article on FHK about a disgusting film called “Towelhead”. In that article, I said I would never again contribute 1 cent to the coffers of the actor Aaron Eckhart. Well, I have so far been true to my word, but its never been harder than this weekend. You see Aaron “rape a 13 year old” Eckhart is in the cast of The Dark Knight. And unfortunately I am a huge Batman fan. But, a promise is a promise. I will not be seeing The Dark Knight. I wont even bittorrent the illegally recorded version. I will have nothing to do with this film. Nor will probably see the 3rd installment of the franchise because AE’s character is recurring, and will probably be central to the next film.
Tony Snow

My heart is broken this morning. I just received an e-mail from my friend Leslie letting me know that Tony Snow has died. As a Christian, I firmly believe that Tony has moved on to a much better place, but my heart is heavy for his family, his friends, and for the conservative movement in America. We’ve lost a good man.
I had a chance to hear Tony Snow close CPAC this year. This year’s CPAC had been a rather sad one overall, with a lot of good-byes, but I will always remember the way Tony came on the stage, and lit the room up with his smile, warmth, enthusiasm, exhortation, encouragement, and energy. As he said in this speech, America is great because of our goodness. Tony, this was true of you, too…You’ll be missed.

Jesse Helms, the conservative US Senator from North Carolina who energized the political right for decades and perpetually angered those on the political left, died July 4 at age 86, leaving a legacy that will far outshine even what most Republicans know about him.
One of four key figures in the rise of American conservatism in the second half of the 20th century (the others being William F. Buckley Jr., Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan) Helms was a tireless, unrepentant and serially politically-incorrect leader.
He served 30 years in the US Senate from 1972 to 2002. In his life he opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Martin Luther King holiday; despised the United Nations and tried to de-fund it; railed against public-funded art that he found repugnant; represented North Carolina tobacco interests unwaveringly; fought for school prayer and against abortion; vocally opposed homosexuality and other sexual license; was fiercely anti-communist; hated liberalism in its every form; and ultimately was the central figure in helping to make Ronald Reagan the 40th President of the United States.
Born in Monroe, NC the son of a sheriff, Helms wanted early on to become a journalist. In his book “Righteous Warrior, Jesse Helms and the Rise of Modern Conservatism”, University of Florida history professor William Link describes Helms’ career in the Navy, then as a radio commentator. Read more

From across the country we read reports of the Black National Anthem replacing our real National Anthem in Denver, and from Spokane Anarchists march for their rights to destroy this Country. We watch as racist separatist groups boycott any celebration of this Nation’s birth.

A wise old man once told me that, "if you have to drive around town all day honking your horn, you must not be sure it works." Translated for you non Southern folk, that means you and others have doubts about you, and you need to make sure they know "you" work by, "telling and showing them every chance you get."
Now I know all politicians and most anyone giving a speech uses teleprompters or the very least cue cards to keep track of their talking points. Fine. But to me, any thing more than a few cue cards with talking points is insincere gibberish. And that goes for all politicians, not just the lie filled one you see in the picture above.
I don’t want to spend a lot of time on this because I’m not feeling very well as some of you may have noticed, by not hearing much from me the last few days. But I had to try to share the point I made above in hopes that at least one person see’s through this waste of humanity named Obama..

How Much Time Does the U.S. Have?

The following is an excerpt of an article by Charles LiMandri, who, according to his bio, has been very active in the effort to pass a constitutional amendment to protect marriage in California which will be on the ballot in November 2008.
A friend recently asked: “How long do we have left as a society?” In answer to that question I informed her about an interesting and comprehensive study that a renowned British anthropologist, Joseph Unwin, PhD., presented to the British Psychological Society in 1935. Unwin sought to prove that the traditional monogamous model for marriage was not essential to the maintenance of a healthy society. After studying 86 different cultures, across time and continents –and much to his surprise — he came to the inescapable conclusion that the traditional male-female monogamous model for marriage was indeed the best foundation for a healthy and productive society.
Unwin found that societies that adopted this model typically took about three generations to reach their peak of productivity and progress. After that, frequently, a gradual development of complacency and licentiousness would take place and what he described as an ”outburst of homosexuality” would sometimes occur. When that happened, and the society started to move away from the traditional model of male-female monogamous marriage as its foundation, it would begin to unravel. It would then take another three generations of deterioration from that point for the society to collapse.
It is my opinion that between the end of the American Civil War and the Reconstruction of the South, proceeding through the Industrial Revolution, and continuing up until about the end of World War II in 1945, the U.S. reached its zenith. Then came the U.S. Supreme Court’s Everson decision in 1947 which imposed an unconstitutional “Wall of Separation” between Church and State. This directly contradicted the vision of the founding fathers. I really shouldn’t read the comments on news articles – it raises my blood pressure! First, read the selected comments, then the rest of the story. (Warning if you have high blood pressure please, medicate before reading, and all spelling mistakes are copied directly.)
This is the sick humor of the Republican Party. They are racist and hateful. They are always talking about values. Is this what they call values? Wake up America they are trying to turn the clock back. We democrates need to take a stand against this type of bigotry. We are better than that. The Republican party is shaking their heads now. They simply can’t believe that a Black/Biracial man has gotten this far and they will stop at nothing to try to destroy him. They will lose in the end. OBAMA will win and the “White House” will finally be for everyone. Blacks, Whites, Latino’s, Asians, Gay and Straight. We are all one America.
