UPDATE: Also see Fox News Debate Over “I Pledge Obama” Video
UPDATE: UADJ has posted an answer to the ridiculous video below: I Pledge 1984 (Hat-Tip, Margaret via Facebook)
This video was actually created for the inauguration of president Obama, but has been making the rounds again as school starts up, and teachers prepare for Obama’s speech to America’s youth on September 8th. I find it ironic that this sort of drivel is allowed in our nation’s public school, while the Pledge of Allegiance is not.
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. -II Timothy 3:1-9 NIV
A Hero’s Return

A soldier comes home for the last time. A newspaper publishes a request to its readers that they honor this soldier, father, man by lining the route. The paper isn’t even sure when the procession will occur. The article is small, just seven paragraphs. The route is about 30 miles, average driving time is 43 minutes.
I am sure that you have seen other videos similar to this. They all seem to affect me. This one more than most. I had to watch it a couple of times before I realized why this clip had me bawling like a baby. I realized it wasn’t the video clip or the great music. It was an accumulation of events. Starting with the fact that I am an American Soldier. Disregard the fact that I passed my expiration date. The Oath I took then is still valid today.
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
There is no expiration date on that oath. I am still a soldier just a bit older and more out of shape, but proud. It shames me to see a POTUS apologizing for America’s missteps and successes. It pains me to watch every principle on which this Nation was founded be trampled, subjugated, diluted, or simply ignored. We are not a Nation founded by homosexuals, communists, socialists, or even politicians. The founding fathers were business men who had God’s help in putting together a document for the ages. The Constitution.
It breaks my heart to think of this Nation failing but due to the planned failures of the education system, biased liberal media, and “political correctness” there is nothing in our future except failure. This old soldier will not go quietly into the night. I will continue to write and raise my voice in protest towards all “enemies, foreign and domestic…”
Will you join me?

Charleston Tea Party

Probably my favorite sign from the Tea Party because it refers to the same illustration I posted about last year.
My wife and I just got home from the Charleston Tea Party and what a Tea Party it was! Our CONSERVATIVE governor, Mark Sanford was there and spoke for about six minutes. I don’t have an official count but I estimate we had a couple thousand people gathered at the Customs House at Market and East Bay and it was awesome.
I took a lot of photos, particularly of signs and I tried to show some idea of the size of the crowd. That turned out to be difficult because I was never able to get into an elevated position. Hopefully you’ll get some idea from the various views.
All in all it was an inspiring event and I was impressed at how well behaved the crowd was. Mary Katherine Hamm sent a tweet while we were there saying “I was ready to report craziness if I saw it. There was NONE. Not one rude sticker or t-shirt or errant word.” That’s exactly what I observed in Charleston. There was a strong spirit of patriotism, of love for this country and fear that we are on the road to losing it all.

Cull Both Herds. The sentiment is the GOP is also to blame for this mess, not just Democrats. I agree!
There were a lot of speakers, mostly local people that most of the crowd didn’t know. They were speaking because they care about this country. Most all were inspiring. We heard from a trucker, a builder, a 17 year old student and many more, all there with a common purpose, to let our elected officials know we are very unhappy with the direction this country is going.
It will be interesting to see if the liberals continue to try to marginalize what took place today. I’ve heard numerous pundits on the left saying this all amounts to nothing but from what I can determine, perhaps more than a million people went to Tea Parties today. As much as the left would like to portray otherwise, they are hard pressed to mount anything like this.
Of note was the number of FairTax supporters at the Tea Party. My wife and I had on our FairTax shirts and hats and we were in good company. The FairTax presence was large enough to merit a mention from the organizers at the Tea Party.
Much as I liked all the speeches, I particularly enjoyed Governor Sanford’s remarks. They say that brevity is the soul of wit and Sanford captured that today. He spoke for just over six minutes and he was, as usual, inspiring to all who hold to conservative principles. His video is below.
I’ll place more photos below the video but mark this. This movement is not a flash in the pan as some would have you believe. This is a real grass roots movement and it is here to stay. Congress had better be listening because we are certainly paying attention to what they’re doing and their careers could be in serious jeopardy if they don’t change their ways.
(Note: The video is shaky because it was shot with a still camera using 12x zoom. It’s pretty difficult to avoid some shake without a tripod. Also, sound quality isn’t great because I wa a long way from the speakers. Still, you can hear what the governor had to say.)

The only negative was the helicopter orbiting overhead for half an hour. It made it difficult to hear at times.

American Carol

From The American Carol website:
The American spirit is celebrated in the outrageous and totally irreverent comedy An American Carol from David Zucker, the master of movie satire (Airplane!, The Naked Gun, Scary Movie 3 and 4).
In An American Carol, a cynical, Anti-American “Hollywood” filmmaker sets out on a crusade to abolish the 4th of July holiday. He is visited by three spirits who take him on a hilarious journey in an attempt to show him the true meaning of America.

Kobe Bryant on National Pride…NBC Apparently Embarrassed?

Update: MsUnderestimated has the clip, here.
NBC announcer Chris Collinsworth asked Kobe Bryant about what it felt like when he first got his U.S.A. uniform, and how he felt about representing the United States of America.
Here’s the transcript:
Collinsworth: Tell the story when you first got your USA uniform.
Kobe: Well I had goosebumps and I actually just looked at it for awhile. I just held it there and I laid it across my bed and I just stared at it for a few minutes; just because as a kid growing up this is the ultimate, ultimate in basketball.
Collinsworth: Where does the patriotism come from inside of you? Historically, what is it?
Kobe: Well, you know it’s just our country, it’s… we believe is the greatest country in the world. It has given us so many great opportunities, and it’s just a sense of pride that you have; that you say “You know what? Our country is the best!”
Collinsworth: Is that a ‘cool’ thing to say, in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you’re fighting for the red, white and blue ? It seems sort of like a day gone by (?)
Kobe: No, it’s a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I mean, this is a tremendous honor.

B. Hussein Obama’s “Patriotism Speech”

A wise old man once told me that, "if you have to drive around town all day honking your horn, you must not be sure it works." Translated for you non Southern folk, that means you and others have doubts about you, and you need to make sure they know "you" work by, "telling and showing them every chance you get."
Now I know all politicians and most anyone giving a speech uses teleprompters or the very least cue cards to keep track of their talking points. Fine. But to me, any thing more than a few cue cards with talking points is insincere gibberish. And that goes for all politicians, not just the lie filled one you see in the picture above.
I don’t want to spend a lot of time on this because I’m not feeling very well as some of you may have noticed, by not hearing much from me the last few days. But I had to try to share the point I made above in hopes that at least one person see’s through this waste of humanity named Obama..
What’s Been Said – What’s been Done

What can be said that hasn’t already been said?
Let’s attempt it here and now.
Our government is dysfunctional, warped and broken and if you can’t see it keep looking, its there.
The popular television series, "My Name Is Earl" is a good comparison when looking at every level of our government, except we would have to replace the quest to improve karma with the quest to stay in power, the characters remain the same. At least in their ability to utilize common sense.
We are herded like sheep to the voting booth, given two choices, both barely palatable, and for some reason we have become fooled into thinking that we must accept ONLY what is put before us. Then most become fixated on who speaks better, who’s wife wears a nicer dress, who thinks America should be taken down a notch or who might make our enemies like us more. This election year we have two very foul bowls of aromatic dung to choose from.
But are we confined to these two choices? No, you can always write in your own choice. Will enough of us do it to make a difference? No, because you’ve been told that would be a waste of your vote. But would it?
There are men and women in our beloved Republic far more qualified to lead our country, but they aren’t politicians. I heard it said not so long ago that anyone seeking office is immediately not to be trusted. I agree, you won’t find a single thought from a career politician on what’s best for America. The only thoughts from our elected representatives are, how can I get votes, how can I stay in power and make a lot of money along the way.
