Does Obama Scare You?

Obama-socialism_0I am revising an old quote instead of FDR’s original, “The only thing we have to fear is fear it’self – nameless, unreasoning, unjustified, terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” I am changing it to:

The only thing we have to fear is is death, not only our death but the death of a great Republic.

A death orchestrated and controlled by a messianic anti-American President and a sycophantic Congress. A voting public that is bedazzled by false rhetoric and dumbed down by a liberal education system and a biased media. A populace the majority of which has been spoiled since birth to take rather than give.

Lou Prichett, a former VP of Proctor & Gamble wrote an open letter to the NYT, but as is normally the case the gray lady chose not to publish such an intelligent dissenting view. This is that letter:

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

  • You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.
  • You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.
  • You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.
  • You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.
  • You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core.
  • You scare me because you lack humility and ‘class’, always blaming others.
  • You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.
  • You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America ‘ crowd and deliver this message abroad.
  • You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.
  • You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.
  • You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.
  • You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.
  • You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations
  • You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.
  • You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.
  • You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.
  • You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.
  • You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
  • You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.
  • Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.
  • Lou Pritchett

I have assembled a few quotes for you to ponder:

Fear is, I believe, a most effective tool in destroying the soul of an individual – and the soul of a people. (Anwar el-Sadat)

He who takes a stand is often wrong, but he who fails to take a stand is always wrong.

The brave don’t live forever, but the cautious don’t live at all. (Timothy Luce)

The best way out is always through. (Robert Frost)

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear. (Ambrose Redmoon)

Basic Flaws in the GOP’s Thinking

    August 11, 2009 by TXPoet

The Republican Party is comprised of people who have conservative beliefs, but not all conservative beliefs are viewed with the same degree of importance.

Conservatives believe in smaller government. We want to elect a like-minded individual to office and then let them run with the ball. We have our own lives and jobs, let them do theirs and do we right and we will do ours. We expect our elected officials to honest, ethical, steadfast and live the conservative principles.

Conservatives believe in the individual not the group, not the collective. As a result Conservatives are not joiners. We are also not blind followers.

The RNC seems to believe that the vocal minority is whom they must pander to, instead of adhering the principles of the party base. The majority of true conservatives, those conservative in both social and fiscal responsibility, probably do not like belonging to a political “party” and many don’t. In those states where independents can vote in primaries without joining either party there is a large number of “independent” registered voters whom are real conservatives.

Closed primaries, Semi-closed primaries, Semi-open primaries and caucuses disenfranchise a large section of the voting public. While I understand the gaming that goes on in Open primaries and the raiding, there has to be a way that includes all voters in each step of the election process.

Conservatives are individuals. They are leaders of 7themselves, fiercely independent. The only way to appeal to this group is to listen to them and include them.

Conservatives who demand to be group leaders tend to be from the centrist mold. These people espouse some conservative talking point but can be spotted by their constant pursuit of more “fame”, influence and the almighty dollar. They attempt to organize and then control a group, but real conservatives question every thing and will never be “controlled”.

Conservatives simply need to be provided honest information and then pointed in a direction; guided not led. The RNC should consider providing the voting public with straight data without no hyperbole or misleading statements. RINO’s and other spineless officials should not be allowed to hang their careers on Party membership; actions speak louder than words or labels.

Larger is not better. Conservatives prefer smaller. In some areas a County-wide organization may work but conservatives are more inclined to smaller groups 10 to 30 people in neighborhood “cells” where they feel their input is actually heard. These small neighborhood groups determine how much or how little they do based on their opinions.

If the information, ideas or suggestions from the grassroots gets lost on its way up the chain, the voters will continue on but as individuals thereby reducing their effectiveness.

The Conservative platform is like the boat. The grassroots groups are the outboard motor and the RNC should be the tiller not the rudder. The destination is a free republic that follows the tenets of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Federalist Papers.

The Georgia Crisis and Nancy Pelosi

By now everyone, I hope, knows about Russia’s invasion of Georgia. I have read some comments from the “Bash Bush” crowd that say “so what, we invaded two countries also”. Some facts these detractors seem to either never knew or conveniently forget. Iraq and Afghanistan were not democracies, nor were the people free in any sense of the word.

Some Perspective on the Edwards Affair

August 13, 2008 by Jenn Sierra

CNN has a story today on the repercussions of the John Edwards affair that has been making news in recent days. Sarah Jio interviewed Elizabeth “Media Lizzy” Blackney, who shared a very personal account of what a spouse goes through when they discover infidelity, and the very personal decisions that must be made.

Elizabeth Blackney says her heart goes out to Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. John Edwards, because she’s been there, too.

Blackney was just 22 and pregnant when she found out in 1995 her husband had been having an extramarital affair.

    [...]

Blackney has never remarried or questioned her decision to forgive the infidelity. “As difficult as our relationship was, he was the love of my life,” she says of her late spouse, who is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

“I know people who have been married 30 or 40 years who don’t know the moments of happiness that he and I knew in our brief but turbulent marriage,” says Blackney…(continue reading)

    The Art of the Deal

No, not the autobiography by Donald Trump. Haggling is an age old art-form. It has been described as polite arguing. The trick in haggling is for the seller to learn just how desperate the buyer is and the trick for the buyer is to determine just how much the seller wants to make money.

A starving man may sell his soul for a crust of bread, but a starving man with a crust of bread might not want to sell it at all. A baker wants to sell his bread when it is fresh so that people will know what kind of artisan he is but if he can’t sell it quickly, he can still sell it the next day at a reduced rate enough to cover his time and expense. But if he can’t sell it the third day, he must toss it out, toast it for croutons, or crumble it for bird feed and lose money.

Nancy Pelosi – Stand Up Comic

Queen Nancy PelosiWhile making a trek around the web I ran into a couple well chosen words that I decided to share with you this Sunday. I hope you find them as humorous as I do.

From the Idaho Mt. Express about Nancy Pelosi:

…she’s been a perpetual no-show, scarce as hen’s teeth when President Bush and Vice President Cheney and their acolytes ran roughshod over the Constitution and blew off empty Democratic complaints. Pelosi decided if she played nice with Bush, and promised he need not worry about impeachment, he and the Republican minority would return the favor. Instead, Bush implemented ruthless policies—torture of detainees, illegal wiretaps, corruption of the Justice department—while Pelosi dropped out of sight.

From the Free Press and Time Magazine:

I think the Republicans would like nothing better than for us to focus on impeachment and take our eye off the ball of a progressive economic agenda.

A Few Energy Bills Nancy Wants to Ignore (Updated)

While discussing the #dontgo movement with my Representative’s  (Rep. Kay Granger, R-TX 12th District) I was brought up to-date on just a few bills pending before the House that Commissar Nancy is preventing from being acted upon.

H.R. 3089, No More Excuses Energy Act of 2007 Reduces the price of gasoline by opening new American oil refineries; investing in diverse energy sources such as wind, nuclear, and clean coal-to-liquid technology; and making available more homegrown energy through environmentally sensitive exploration of the Arctic Energy Slope and America’s Deep-Sea Energy Reserves.

H.R. 2279, Expand American Refining Capacity at Closed Military Bases Reduces the price of gasoline by streamlining the refinery application process and by requiring the President to open at least three closed military installations for the purpose of siting new and reliable American refineries. “Gang of Ten” Seeking to DeRail the #dontgo Movement (Updated – Rush inteviews Chamblis)

    August 8, 2008 by forthardknox

Rush interviewed U.S. Sen. Saxby Chamblis (R-GA) on his show today regarding the Gang of 10. Listen to the podcast, here.

    …from Eric Odom, of #dontgo

This morning we learned that an effort is underway that would essentially knock down the intentions of the #dontgo Movement. While the Gang of Ten, as they are being called, is not hot off the press, it appears they are still meeting and planning on pushing forth a bill that stinks of politics.

The Republican Senators joining this Gang are Lindsey Graham , John Thune, Saxby Chambliss, Bob Corker and Johnny Isakson.

As of now there is no solid evidence showing the Gang of Ten will succeed. Especially considering the fact that these Senators organized BEFORE #dontgo kicked off. I would imagine there are conversations going on that suggests the Gang of Ten should back off because Republicans are now dominating on the #dontgo issue.

But if the Gang of Ten sticks to its guns, even after a full week of movement style activism and center-right based rallying, I think a revolt against these Senators might be in order.

This is the part of the Gang of Ten plan that will enrage the movement:

That’s because the plan is a Democratic giveaway. New production on offshore federal lands is left to state legislatures, and then in only four coastal states. The regulatory hurdles are huge. And the bill bars drilling within 50 miles of the coast — putting off limits some of the most productive areas. Alaska’s oil-rich Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is still a no-go.

The highlight is instead $84 billion in tax credits, subsidies and federal handouts for alternative fuels and renewables. The Gang of 10 intends to pay for all this in part by raising taxes on…oil companies! The Sierra Club couldn’t have penned it better. And so the Republican Five has potentially given anti-drilling Democrats the political cover they need to neutralize energy through November.

When asked about the Gang of Ten, Dan Burton said that compromise is likely. The problem with this compromise, however, is that it essentially puts us right back at square one.

Which would be nothing short of another example of our Do Nothing Congress.

    #dontgo Movement Update

    August 8, 2008 by TXPoet

The #dontgo movement for those not paying attention started a week ago today. It is where rebel congressmen stood up to the Head Mistress Pelosi and said “Hell, No, We Won’t Go!”

It is traditional for Representatives to make five minute speeches at the end of a session. They even sign up to do this. This year they signed up and began speaking but the dominatrix in charge didn’t like what she heard or perhaps her Prada pumps were pinching her toes. For what ever reason she turned out the lights, turned off the lights, removed the water from the floor and left OUR Congressmen in the dark still talking.
